Christmas is often called the most wonderful time of the year but for local households already doing it tough, it can also be one of the hardest.
With an estimated 3.4 million Australian households experiencing food insecurity, and 73% facing it for the first time last year, the need for support has never been greater. In Brisbane alone, there are hundreds of people going without the basics: a safe place to sleep, food on the table, friends to support them and meaningful, sustainable employment.
At Nexus Care, the festive season brings the highest demand for our services, with a 50% increase in requests for assistance on average. And so Christmas at Nexus Care means being there for our local community when they need it most.
With your support, this funding will help us meet the growing needs of our north Brisbane community, ensuring families not only receive essential food relief, but are also able to experience a little bit of Christmas JOY despite their challenges.

Nexus Care is looking to raise $40,000 through our Christmas Giving Appeal to ensure every Brissie family we meet at Nexus Care this season can experience a little more joy, hope & community. These vital funds enable us to meet the immediate needs of our community over Christmas & support families heading back to school in 2025.
From Food parcels to English Classes, Career Coaching to Therapeutic Art, Emergency Financial Relief to Community Connect Initiatives, we are honoured to journey with our guests towards meeting their specific individual needs- securing safe and meaningful employment, building community support and connection, finding purpose and hope in the day-to-day or simply ensuring they can put food on the table for the next week.
